SANTACY Program
Brethren,
It is with pleasure that I report on
the 2009 Santacy program. As I had indicated in my several
communications in the Trestle Board, as well as the many reports to the
Brethren at Lodge Meetings, our focus for this past Christmas was the
local military families. All four families were Guard or Reserve, three
presently having husbands overseas fighting the fight, the other was a
female soldier being deployed in March. Personally making the
deliveries, I can assure you all that these families were in need, and
most importantly, they were truly appreciative.
On our last delivery the wife actually had her husband on the internet
with a computer hooked up. He was able to see us making the delivery
from Iraq, and the expression of his kids and wife as the gifts were
placed in the home, I told my wife that I had alreadyhad my Christmas,
and it was one of the best ever. Before I report on the Status of the
Santacy Program, I want to thank all the Brethren that helped with this
years program, those that contributed, as well as the Rainbow girls and
DeMolay boys for helping with the wrapping, and last but not least, my
wife Linda, who was a major help throughout the fall.
Now for the report:
We started with $568.13 and collected $2,861.11 from Brethren and
others. We spent $1990.74 on gifts and had an ending balance of
$1438.50.
As we all know, we get out of Masonry what we put in, but I can tell
you this Christmas I have gotten far more than I could have imagined.
This is what Masonry is all about.
Fraternally,
Worshipful Frederick Morton, Jr. |
