VALLEY OF THE ANDROSCOGGIN SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must fill out application forms and return to the Valley Secretary by May 1st. 
Any application received after that date cannot be considered for a scholarship award. 

Eligibility:

You must be a Maine resident with Scottish Rite connections (Father, or Grandfather) or be a member of the following organizations: Demolay, Rainbow, or Job’s Daughters.

THE VEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

Note: By applying for the Veague Scholarship or Abbott Scholarship the applicant will automatically be submitted for both.

Applications must be submitted in person or postmarked no later than April 1st.

The Arnold L. Veague scholarship is named after a prominent attorney from the City of Bangor, Maine. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley's of Bangor and Portland. This scholarship program provides financial support for continuing education of young men and women from Scottish Rite families and Masonic related youth groups. After Mr. Veague's passing in 2003 he bequeathed 1.4 Million dollars to be used for scholarships benefiting Maine students. The first of these scholarships were presented in 2005 and hopefully will continue for many years to come.


Eligibility:

Those meeting any of the following criteria are eligible to apply for the Veague Scholarship:

- Applicant must reside within the State of Maine.

- Applicant must have attained a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale

- Applicant must be a full time student.

- Applicant must have at least one of the following Masonic affiliations.

- A Scottish Rite Mason or their spouse who is a member of a Scottish Rite Valley within the

State of Maine.

-  A child or a grandchild of a Scottish Rite Mason, who is a member of a Scottish Rite Valley

within the State of Maine and is a High School Senior or currently enrolled at an accredited

College or University.

- A past or present member of DeMolay, Rainbow or Jobs Daughters who is under the age of

23, a High School Senior or currently enrolled at an accredited College or University.

Applicants should complete the form, print and mail it to the appropriate Home Valley Secretary.

Applicants should submit their application to the Valley providing for their eligibility. For instance, if your

father is providing eligibility, then you would submit the application to his Valley.

THE ABBOTT SCHOLARSHIP

Named for Leon M. Abbott, Sovereign Grand Commander from 1921 to 1932, the Scholarship Program provides financial support for the continuing education of young men and women from Scottish Rite families and Masonic-related youth groups. Since 1951, more than $3 million has been awarded to students from each state of the Northern Jurisdiction.

Eligibility:

The following criteria are currently used to determine the eligibility of applicants for the program:

  • A child or grandchild of a Scottish Rite Mason in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction
    or
  • A member of a youth organization sponsored by the Masonic fraternity in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction
    or
  • A currently enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
  • High School Seniors can apply for the Ill. Arnold L. Veaque Scholarships, which is part of the Abbott Scholarships (Maine Students)

Applicants should print the form, complete it, and mail 3 copies to the appropriate Valley secretary. Applicants should submit their application to the Valley providing for their eligibility. For instance, if your father is providing eligibility, then you would submit the application to his Valley. Deadline is April 1st.
