Welcome to Hiram Lodge No. 13 where Masonry is alive and thriving!
We at Hiram Lodge are men of good character who strive to improve
ourselves and make our community a better place to live. We do that by
having activities that promote Family and Brotherly Fellowship.
If
you are interested in joining Hiram Lodge, come visit us the second Tuesday of the month year around. We meet at 529 Chama St. NE in Albuquerque,
NM. Dinner is served at 6:15 PM and our meetings begin at 7:00 PM.

FROM THE EAST
Hiram Lodge 13 is finally
getting settled into its new home at the Mesa Charities building. At our last
meeting on October 13, 2009, we had nineteen brothers in attendance in lodge
but even more during the dinner hour. Many of the brethren commented on how
much more inviting the lodge seems to be.
I heartily invite all
brothers from Hiram 13 and from other lodges to come and visit us - to join us
for good food and fellowship.
By the time you get this
newsletter we will have initiated another candidate, Mr Estevan Stowe, as an
Entered Apprentice. I welcome him to our lodge and I should have some pictures
for our next newsletter. I also welcome Brother Justin Wharton who just became
a plural member in our lodge. Brother Justin has already taken upon
himself the job of restoring some of our old Masonic books dating back to the
mid 1800s. Brethren - please extend a big Hiram 13 welcome to our new brothers!
We have a couple of very
important meetings next month. On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 we will have our
annual officer elections. We need as many of our brothers to attend as possible.
Let's fill the lodge room!
On Tuesday, November 24,
2009 we are going to have a gala event - our Annual Founder's Day Dinner will
also be our Grand Re-Opening of Hiram Lodge 13 at its new location. This will
be strictly a social meeting and wives and family members are welcome!
Hopefully, we will also be presenting two 50-year awards and one 25-year award
to some very deserving brothers. Please join us to celebrate our anniversary
and our grand re-opening.
Please note that our Lodge
Installation of Officers shall occur on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Mesa Charities
Building - the same day
the Mesa Lodge 68 has its installation of officers. The time shall be announced
in Lodge and in the next newsletter.
One final note - I want the
family members to feel welcome at our lodge. For that reason, we now only have
one business meeting every month on the second Tuesday. Our social meeting will
be held on the fourth Tuesday of every month and that will involve events for
the whole family. It might be a Mystery Cafe; a Barbershop Quartet or a
featured speaker. The idea is to have a program that the brethren and their
families can enjoy. I truly want family members to feel welcome at the new
Hiram Lodge 13!
I hope to see all of you in Lodge!!
Fraternally,
W Bro. Roy Johnson, Worshipful Master
MESA CHAPTER, ORDER of DeMOLAY
Mesa
Chapter is at it again with another busy November planned. On Saturday, Nov
14th, the Chapter will be visiting the National Atomic
Museum to learn about the
important role of nuclear science in our nation and state's histories as well
as the role of nuclear weapons in World War II.
The next
weekend, Saturday, Nov 21st, the Chapter will be going indoor rock climbing to
stay active even as the weather outside gets cooler and cooler.
Also, the
Chapter will be planning a Masonic Youth dance for December along with the DeMolays
of Metro Chapter, and the Rainbow and Job's girls from the local area.
Our stated
meetings will be on Tuesday November 3rd and 17th at 7:30PM.
November is
an important time for DeMolays all around the world. On November 8th we observe
Frank S. Land Memorial Day to commemorate and memorialize the life of our Order's
founder. It's hard to believe that without the initiative, drive, and will to
help others of one man, our Order might not exist today. Nor might any other
Masonic Youth organization, for that matter. Dad Land
realized the impact adults can make in the lives of young people, and set forth
on a venture where the Masonic Family would produce the leaders of tomorrow.
Today, we, the Masonic
Family, carry on that tradition and are encouraged and pledged to seeing that
dream lives on. We, therefore, set aside this month to honor Dad Land's
memory and all of his great accomplishments.
Fraternally,
Bro. Michael Thorning, Mesa Chapter DeMolay
